Written by AnantaSaranNayak

With an aim to build a collision-free India, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) organized a National Road Safety Awareness Campaign in Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh. This was a two-day event camp with dates from 14th to 15th September 2022. Honda conducted this safety awareness program at Thiat Jagran Institute of Management in Kanpur.

Honda mentioned that a total of 1300 students and staff members participated in this event. The Japanese company has been a forerunner in spreading safety awareness in India. Furthermore, events like these help imbibe safe riding practices for the riders. HMSI’s road safety instructors made use of the age-appropriate road safety learning programs. This ensured proper retention of road safety awareness among all.

Importance Of Road Safety Education In India

Road safety education has become of paramount importance. The need of the hour is to develop a road safety mindset. Thus, Honda continues to further strengthen its commitment to building a safer India on roads. With the Covid situation almost normal, Honda has resumed its on-ground road safety training via National Road Safety Awareness Campaign. With this campaign, Honda aims to cultivate the right road safety habits amongst new age and upcoming riders.

Key Highlights Of The Event

Honda’s skilled safety instructors first set the foundation with theory sessions. This included teachings on road signs and markings, driver’s duties on the road, proper riding gear and posture explanation, and safe riding etiquette. There was also a special training activity via Honda’s virtual riding simulator. This activity helps experience over 100 possible dangers on the road before actual riding.

Participants were given a special danger prediction training called Kiken Yosoku Training (KYT). This helps in enhancing the rider/driver’s sensitivity to danger and ensures safe driving action while on the roads. Students and staff members who are already existing riders honed their riding skills through slow riding activities and also riding on narrow planks. To maximize benefits for the young students, Honda also conducted fun educational activities like road safety games and quizzes on a daily basis.
