Honda conducts Road Safety Awareness Campaign in Chhattisgarh

Written by AnantaSaranNayak

With the schools now reopening, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) has started its National Road Safety Awareness Campaign. This time, the focus is more on colleges and schools. These road safety programs in the country aim to re-emphasize the need for road safety awareness among citizens. Honda recently conducted a two-day camp at the Salem English School in Raipur. This event saw spirited participation from over 1800 school students and staff members. All of them were all ready to imbibe safe riding practices. HMSI’s road safety instructors leveraged the age-appropriate road safety learning programs to enhance the retention of road safety awareness among all the participants.

Importance Of Road Safety

Road safety education is very crucial in these current times. India scores poorly in terms of road safety rating at the global level. This is also evident from the number of casualties caused due to road accidents. This is essential for developing a road safety mindset among Indian citizens of all age groups. With this campaign, Honda aims to educate children as safety ambassadors of tomorrow. This will also help the adults understand the importance of using the roads safely.

Key Initiatives Of The Event

HMSI’s specially-trained road safety instructors educated 5 to 10-year-olds about the do’s and don’ts while cycling and commuting on a bus. To make learning more engaging, the 11 to 12 years old learnt how to ride their bicycle safely. They were also taught about their duties as a pillion on a two-wheeler and the importance of safety gear on roads. The kids also got hands-on learning experience on the specially imported CRF50 motorcycles.

These safety riding sessions also included theory lessons on road rules and regulations, road signs and markings, driver’s duties on the road, riding gear and posture explanation and safe riding etiquette. All these were for 13 to 17 years old as well as for staff. The existing riders in the event, like the school staff members, tested and honed their learnings through theoretical and practical training on a two-wheeler. HMSI also conducted fun educational activities like quizzes and road safety games on a daily basis to keep up with the excitement.
