It took a while for Honda to reveal this. Most of the rivals had revised the prices of their import motorcycles in the high end segment, and now, Honda has also announced a price cut for their flagship superbike. The Fireblade as we know it, the Honda CBR1000RR now becomes the cheapest superbike one can own in the litre-class segment thanks to the drop in custom duties.
The Honda CBR1000RR is now priced at INR 14.78 lakh, which is INR 2.01 lakh cheaper than its previous price tag. Also, the price of the CBR1000RR SP variant is now down by a whopping INR 2.54 lakh, with the bike now asking for INR 18.68 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
Honda announced the new CBR10000RR for the Indian market in 2017. For the latest batch, the bikes will be delivered in the coming weeks. Showrooms do not have a motorcycle even for display at the moment, and dealers reveal that they are already sold out with the initial batch.
Powering the new Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade is a 999cc, 4-stroke, in-line 4-cylinder, liquid-cooled, DOHC, 16-valve motor producing 191.6 HP of power @ 13000 RPM and 114 Nm of torque @ 11000 RPM matched to a 6-speed gearbox. In terms of features, you get a slipper clutch, ride-by-wire, traction control, engine braking adjustment, gyroscopic ABS, steering damper, power selector and the likes. On the SP variant, you get Ohlins semi-active suspension at the front and back and quickshifter.
Honda reveals that the new bike is lighter, and more powerful than before. This will make it a completely different motorcycle to ride even for existing owners of the older generation Honda CBR1000RR.
