Powering the Honda CB500X is a 471cc parallel-twin cylinder four-stroke DOHC engine with liquid-cooling and advanced fuel injection technology that helps pump out 47 Hp of power and 43.2 Nm of torque. The engine comes with a slick-shifting 6-speed gearbox and an Assist/Slipper Clutch, that allows smoother shifting on both on and off-road as well as prevents rear wheel lock-ups on hard downshifts. The engine comes with an upswept exhaust pipe that helps the motorcycle traverse through rough and water-filled trail rides. The exhaust system also brings a crispy grunt for the ultimate aural experience.
The Honda CB500X features styling cues from the Honda Africa Twin, the brand’s flagship adventurer motorcycle and comes with an aggressive stance, sharp LED headlamps with a small beak, tall touring style windscreen, boomerang-shaped side panels, ergonomic seat design, upright handlebars, a sharp tail, compact LED turn indicators and clear screen LED tail lamps. The motorcycle also features a negative display LCD that provides information such as Speed, Gear Position, Engine Temperature, etc.
The Honda CB500X adventure class motorcycle features a diamond-shaped steel-tube mainframe that is carefully balanced with the heavier part closer to the centre of gravity and engine in close proximity to the swingarm pivot point to ensure excellent rider control, stability and handling feedback. The chassis rides on long-stroke 41mm front suspension, a 9-stage spring preload-adjustable Honda Pro-Link rear suspension with rear suspension, 19-inch front and 17-inch rear aluminium alloy wheels. The CB500X gets its braking power from a 310mm petal disc on the front and a 240mm disc on the rear equipped with Dual Channel ABS. The motorcycle offers 181mm of ground clearance and an accessible 830mm of seat height and thanks to its narrow seat shoulders even riders with inseam challenges can plant their feet on the ground.
The Honda CB500X is more affordable than the Kawasaki Versys 650 which is priced at INR 6.94 lakh ex-showroom but, Tem Green offers a bigger 66 PS/61 Nm, 649cc, parallel-twin engine but also weighs more than the CB500X. Another close competitor is the Benelli TRK 502 featuring a BS6 compliant 47.5 PS/46 Nm 500cc parallel-twin engine and comes at a price of INR 4.80 lakh ex-showroom, India (Introductory).
