Honda CB300R discontinued? Removed from official Indian website

Honda has removed the Neo Sports naked roadster the Honda CB300R which was launched last year in the Indian market at the price of INR 2.41 lakhs ex-showroom which was later hiked by INR 8000 bringing the price to INR 2.49 lakh ex-showroom. The bike did not receive the BS6 upgrade for its engine which could be the reason that the Japanese brand has discontinued the motorcycle in the Indian market.

The Honda CB300R was powered by a 286cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled 4-stroke DOHC fuel-injected motor that produced 30.4 PS of power and 27.5 Nm of torque matched to a 6-speed gearbox with a wet multi-plate clutch. The bike did not come with a slipper assist clutch which is offered by its competitor.

On the mechanical front, the Honda CB300R featured upside-down front fork, a monoshock suspension on the rear, 17-inch alloy wheels, petal rotor discs on both the front and rear armed with ABS along with an Inertial Measuring Unit (IMU) that offers better braking power and more precise electronic intervention.

In terms of styling, the CB300R featured a Neo Sports Cafe design theme which reverberates with its elder sibling the Honda CB1000R and comes with rounded LED headlamps, pod-style digital instrumentation, LED turn signal lamps, a chiselled fuel tank, angular radiator shrouds, underbelly cowling, an upswept exhaust, step-up seats, LED tail lamps and a straight upright handlebar.

The Honda CB300R used to compete with the BMW G310R but was priced lower than the naked roadster. The bike was also considered as a competition to the KTM 390 Duke but did not come close in terms of the features and equipment offered by the Austrian manufacturer.

It is likely that Honda will bring the BS6 updated model back in the Indian market in the near future. It is also important to note that before Honda removed the CB300R from its official website the bike was sold out in the Indian market.
