India’s growing car market has changed rapidly, with consumers demanding safety features as their top priority. Hence, ADAS-equipped vehicle sales are also growing. One such feat has been achieved by Honda Cars India, where it has successfully sold more than 50,000 cars equipped with ADAS, aka Honda Sensing technology.
The first car to receive the autonomous safety features in India by Honda was the City e:HEV. The strong hybrid iteration of the City sedan was introduced in 2022, where it came equipped with a camera-based ADAS suite. Moving on, the Elevate SUV and the Amaze facelift have also received the same technology.
Called Honda Sensing, the camera-based system uses multiple sensors and a wide-angle camera at the front that reads the oncoming traffic and lanes and monitors moving objects. Additionally, the ADAS suite includes adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, lane watch assist, lane keep assist, and auto-high beam assist.
While initially the ADAS safety features were considered as not feasible for the Indian traffic environment, with time Honda has refined its technology that intervenes less on the driving experience and enhances safety further.
The current lineup of cars from Honda in India is completely equipped with the ADAS safety suite.

The addition of ADAS safety features in mass market cars like the Amaze has proven to be a major lifesaver in various extreme situations. While the traffic conditions in India keep worsening with more vehicles, it is the advanced technology like ADAS that will act as a saviour in the coming time.
