Honda Cars India has announced the commencement of production of the Elevate SUV. The car will be manufactured at the Japanese car maker’s Tapukara plant. Honda will launch the Elevate in September 2023.
The carmaker has reported that India is the first country to start manufacturing this new model. Furthermore, there is high localisation of 90 percent.
According to Honda, India is the first country where the Elevate is being manufactured. The company claims to have achieved over 90% localization of parts.
In terms of dimensions, the Honda Elevate measures 4,312 mm in length, 1,790 mm in width, and 1,650 mm in heigh. It has a wheelbase of 2,650 mm. Honda maintains a gross vehicle weight of 1,700 kg for CVT variants and 1,650 kg for manual transmission variants across all trim levels. Honda Elevate will come in four trim levels – V, SV, VX, and ZX.
While the Honda Elevate may lack some of the features offered by competitors. But it aims to make up for it with its commanding road presence and well-put-together interior layout. It comes equipped with Honda’s camera-based Sensing ADAS suite. This will come from mid-level trims onwards, indicating a focus on safety.
The upcoming Honda Elevate will be offered with a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine. This motor develops 119 BHP @ 6,600 rpm and 145 Nm @ 4,300 rpm. The company is offering two gearbox options of the car – a 6-speed manual or a 7-step CVT automatic.
The Honda Elevate will most likely carry a highly competitive price tag. Thus providing tough competition to segment leaders like the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos. Deliveries are set to begin in September 2023, and Honda has plans to launch a fully-electric version of the Elevate in the future. Thus, showcasing the brand’s commitment to sustainable mobility.
