Honda Amaze crosses 1 lakh sales milestone

Honda Cars India Ltd. has revealed that the Honda Amaze compact sedan has crossed the 1 lakh sales milestone. The compact sedan has been on sale since April 2013, and has achieved this feat in 16 months, which is the fastest for Honda, in India.

The Amaze was the first diesel powered car from Honda when it was launched in 2013. Also, it was the first sub-4 metre product from the Japanese marque. The Amaze was sold with a 1.2L i-VTEC petrol and a 1.5L i-DTEC diesel engine. The Amaze is available in 12 variants – E, EX, S, SX & VX with manual transmission in petrol and diesel, and S and VX with automatic transmission in petrol.

Sub-4 metre length of the car also helped Honda to price the Amaze competitively and Honda claims high reliability and low cost of ownership.

Honda has a total of 180 touch points spread across 115 cities in India. The company expects this figure to reach 230 touch points in 150 cities by the end of this fiscal year.

The Amaze competes against the Maruti Dzire and Hyundai Xcent. The Tata Zest will be launched next week and a Figo based compact sedan from Ford is also on its way here.
