Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) has unveiled its first electric scooter for the Indian market, the Honda Activa e. The Activa e is part of Honda’s global strategy to launch 30 electric vehicles by 2030 and achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. The new electric scooter is designed to offer eco-friendly mobility with advanced features and a swappable battery system.
The Activa e retains the iconic design elements of the popular internal combustion engine (ICE) Activa but with a fresh, minimalist look. It features dual-tone LED headlights, turn indicators, and a sleek LED DRL, giving it a modern appearance. The scooter also boasts a dual-tone seat, a flat footboard, and diamond-cut alloy wheels.
The Activa e comes with a swappable battery system, featuring two 1.5 kWh batteries that can be exchanged at Honda Power Pack Exchanger e-stations. This system provides a range of 102 km per full charge and allows for quick battery swaps, enhancing convenience for users. The scooter is powered by a 6 kW electric motor, delivering 22 Nm of torque and a top speed of 80 km/h. It can accelerate from 0 to 60 km/h in just 7.3 seconds.
The Activa e offers three riding modes: Econ, Standard, and Sport, catering to different riding preferences. The top-spec variant, the RoadSync Duo, features a 7.0-inch TFT display with Bluetooth connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation, music controls, and notification alerts. The display can be controlled via toggle switches on the handlebar and has day and night modes.
Bookings for the Activa e will open on January 1, 2025, with deliveries expected to begin in February 2025. Initially, the scooter will be available in Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru, with plans for a nationwide expansion. The Activa e will be offered in five colors and comes with a 3-year/50,000 km warranty and three free services in the first year.
