Honda 2Wheelers India aims to become global export hub

Honda 2Wheelers, announces the establishment of its new Overseas Business expansion. With this, the Japanese two-wheeler company launches the ‘Making in India for the World’ initiative. Honda 2Wheelers is one of the most successful two-wheeler manufacturers in the country. With four manufacturing facilities located across India, the annual capacity stands at 6.4 million units. The export figure is also on the rise, with the company registering a 16 per cent growth.

Honda India to Spreadhead as Global Export Hub

Under this new vertical, Honda will harness the strength of over 100 associates across different functions. They will work together to ensure that the ‘Making in India for the World’ initiative is a huge success. The new Overseas Business Expansion vertical has come up at Honda’s Manesar facility. This new vertical integrates Honda 2Wheeler India’s sales, engineering, development, purchasing and quality function. All these departments will function under one roof with a target to achieve one aim – Make Honda India the global hub for two-wheeler exports. The new reconstruction of the company will strengthen the business constitution thus improving the competitiveness of the brand.

Honda 2Wheeler India – Past, Present And Future

The company made its mark in the country way back in 2001 with its debut model, the Activa. Fast forward to 2o years, Activa is currently the best-selling scooter in the country. With over 2.5 crores of cumulative sales, Activa completely revolutionized the gearless scooter segment in India. For the month of March, the company sold a total of 4,11,037 units resulting in year-on-year growth of 31 per cent. Honda 2Wheelers India is a massive hit in the Southern Indian market. The brand is the first choice of over 1.5 crore people from South India. Currently, Honda 2Wheelers India exports to over 35 markets which include Japan, South-East Asia, Latin America and SAARC nations. A total of 19 two-wheeler export models are manufactured in India. All these models are compliant and follow the country-specific homologation and regulatory requirements.
