According to a report, many owners of the Hero Xpulse 200 are facing an issue with regards to the Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) on the dual-sport motorcycle. It is being reported that when the bike encounters a pothole the ABS system kicks-in and jams the front brake lever in place rendering it virtually useless for a couple of seconds. A couple of seconds in some situations could prove hazardous and may cause a crash.
It is important to note that the single-channel system is equipped only on the front brake and does not affect the rear brakes operation or its ability to perform in such a scenario. But the hampered operation of the front brake lever could cause the rider to panic and jam the rear wheel sending the motorcycle into an uncontrolled skid.
It is also being reported that Hero MotoCorp is rectifying the issue by replacing the ABS unit but the brand has not yet announced any official recall for the same. Hero MotoCorp is likely to be working on the malfunction and it is expected that the company will be announcing an official recall soon as the ABS unit is one of the most crucial components of a motorcycle.
Stopping power on the Hero Xpulse 200 comes from a single 276mm disc on the front with 2-piston hydraulically operated brake callipers armed with a single-channel ABS and a 220mm disc on the rear with a single-piston hydraulically operated calliper.
Unconfirmed reports also suggest that some customers have complained about a coarse sound coming from the engine and customers experiencing lack of refinement from the engine. Hero MotoCorp is also likely to rectify this by bringing in a reworked engine head.
The Hero Xpulse 200 is powered by a 199.6cc single-cylinder air-cooled, 4 stroke 2-valve OHC mill that produces 18.4 ps of power and 17.1 Nm of torque matched to a 5-speed constant mesh gearbox with a wet multi-plate clutch. The carburation takes place through a Programmed Fuel Injection system on the Hero Xpulse 200 Fi and via a 32mm-venturi Constant Velocity Carburettor on the standard model.
As of now, the brand has temporarily shut down its operations in wake of the COVID-19 Coronavirus outbreak and will be resuming as soon as the situations normalise.
