Hero MotoSports reveals team for 2020 Dakar Rally in Saudi Arabia

Hero MotoSports has announced their team for the 2020 Dakar Rally which is heading to Saudi Arabia. This is the 42nd edition of the Dakar Rally and Hero MotoSports, team of the world’s largest two-wheeler manufacturer Hero MotoCorp Ltd. have signed up Joaquim Rodrigues, CS Santosh, Oriol Mena & Paulo Goncalves.

Hero MotoSports is a new team in the rally world, but has had 2 back-to-back Top 10 finishes in Dakar and 100% arrival rate for the competing motorcycles. All of this with just 3 Dakar Rallies participated in since 2016. In 2019, the team also claimed a podium finish which has boosted the morale. 2019 has been very encouraging for Hero MotoSports as they claimed a win at the Pan Africa Rally, 2 podium finishes including Merzouga & Desert Storm, 4 stage fins including 1 in Silkway rally, 2 in Pan Africa and 1 in Rally Du Maroc and 6 stage podiums in Silkway rally.

The Rally Kit for the Hero MotoCorp Xpulse 200 is said to be the learning from the motorsport world, trickling down to the mass market.

The 42nd Dakar Rally in 2020 will begin in Saudi Arabia from Jeddah on January 5th and will come to an end after 12 stages in Qiddiyah. The teams and riders will cover a total distance of nearly 7,900 km with the battle over 5,000 km of special stages. Dakar rally is not just about speed, but a navigational skill to reach the final checkpoint and also preserve your motorcycle to be ready for the next stage quickly.
