Wow! Hero MotoCorp has taken a significant jump ahead in the premium motorcycle segment with this showcase. Revealed at the 2023 EICMA show in Milan, this is the Hero MotoCorp Xoom 160 adventure maxi scooter concept. The brand claims that this is a near production ready version, and we hope that this scooter would hit the streets in 2024 in India. We have to applaud Hero MotoCorp’s commitment towards the premium two-wheeler segment while arch rival and erstwhile partner Honda has on multiple occasions only showcased international products, but launched barely any.
Powering the Xoom 160 is an all-new single-cylinder, 156cc, liquid-cooled, 4-stroke, OHC, fuel-injected motor producing 14 BHP of power @ 8000 RPM and 13.7 Nm of torque @ 6500 RPM matched to a conventional CVT automatic gearbox. The Xoom 160 will come with the i3S auto-start-stop functionality and with a silent start mechanism. The scooter weighs 141 kg. This is the most advanced scooter which Hero MotoCorp promises to manufacture.
The Hero Xoom 160 will be the brands first maxi-scooter, but with an adventure flavour. Only Honda has a similar ADV 160 scooter overseas, but unlikely that Honda would bring a premium product like that to India. The Xoom 160 then comes with 14″ wheels, block pattern alloy wheels, keyless ignition system, high ground clearance, telescopic front forks, dual rear shock absorbers, large front windscreen which appears to be adjustable, digital speedo console, LED headlamp & tail lamp, front disc brake mostly with a single-channel ABS setup, large single-piece seat, off-road style front beak element, upswept exhaust muffler, external fuel filler cap, etc.
If and when this scooter officially arrives in showrooms, expect an ex-showroom price tag of INR 1.5 lakh or more.
