Hero MotoCorp sold 4,85,889 two-wheelers in January 2021

Hero MotoCorp has reported a total sales of 4,85,889 units for the opening month of 2021. The world’s largest two-wheeler manufacturer also announced that it has now crossed the milestone of 10 crore units in cumulative production since it began its operation way back in 1984. The 100 millionth motorcycle which was the Xtreme 160R was rolled out from the company’s manufacturing facility in Haridwar, Uttarakhand.

The company has also decided to introduce six new celebration edition models of the Splendor+, the Xtreme 160R, the Passion Pro and the Glamour in the motorcycle segment meanwhile in the scooter segment the Destini 125 and the Maestro Edge 110 to mark the special achievement. These special edition two-wheelers are expected to hit the Indian roads in February 2021. In a recent announcement, it was revealed that Hero MotoCorp has decided to tie-up with Grupo Salinas, a conglomerate based in Mexico. This tie-up is aimed towards forming one of the largest two-wheeler distribution network in the Mexican market by offering reliable, high-quality products at very competitive pricing.

In terms of sales figure when compared to January 2020 which stood at 4,94,432 units, the sales have dropped in January 2021 with 4,49,037 units. But, in contrast, the export volume has increased, and for the month of January 2021, it stood at 18,113 units as against 13,553 units for the corresponding month last year. Hero MotoCorp has a total of five manufacturing facilities located in Gurugram, Dharuhera, Haridwar, Halol and Neemrana with a cumulative production capacity of around 7.6 million units per year.

The other key highlights for the month of January 2021 include the impressive performance of the Hero MotoSports Rally Team which ended the Dakar 2021 campaign with both its riders finishing in top 15. In terms of expanding its reach to more markets, Hero MotoCorp has appointed new distributor partners in Central America, Nicaragua and Honduras. The company has reiterated that under its vision to ‘Be the Future of Mobility’, it has planned to launch a host of new products for the Indian market over the next 5 years.
