The world’s largest two-wheeler manufacturer, Hero MotoCorp announces its sales report for April 2021. In terms of sales figure, the company sold a total of 3,72,285 units of motorcycles and scooters for April 2021. This consists of 3,42,614 units for the domestic market and 29,671 units as exports. Motorcycles contributed for 3,39,329 units and the brand sold 32,956 units of scooters. There is no year-on-year growth metric, as in April 2020, there was zero production, due to the national wide lockdown. Currently, the sales are not par as per the expectation as multiple factors are playing against it.
The temporary closure of the manufacturing plants is the main reason for the subdued sales figure. There are multiple dealerships across the countries which remain closed given the current rising Covid-19 cases. To help break the chain of the spread of the virus, Hero MotoCorp is taking multiple important steps. The closure of its manufacturing facilities along with its Global Parts Center in Neemrana and the R&D facility in Jaipur till 9th May 2021 will aim to curtail the spread of the virus. As per plans, the plants will resume from 10th May 2021. The corporate offices are following work-from-home mode with very limited personnel at the offices.
Hero MotoCorp, being a responsible employee, started the vaccination drive for its permanent and contractual employees. To help keep up with the demand and ensure the best customer service, it launched multiple digital initiatives. Now the customers can avail themselves of a range of sales and aftersales services via Whatsapp. Hero MotoCorp also announced the launch of a Virtual Showroom to enhance the digital experience. This will help the customers to experience the products of their choice without having to leave their homes. Under the new partnership with Harley-Davidson, they announced the pricing for the range of its products. Hero MotoCorp announced a new partnership with Gogoro Inc. to leverage the electric mobility sector which is in much demand lately.
