After wrapping up its business in India, Hero MotoCorp became the exclusive distributor for Harley-Davidson Motorcycles in India. Under the partnership, Harley-Davidson and Hero MotoCorp co-developed their first product under the Harley-Davidson brand called the “Harley-Davidson X 440”.
The brand produces the X 440 at Hero’s Neemrana production facility in Rajasthan. Recently, Hero MotoCorp announced another product which is likely to use the X 440 as its base. However, this product will come with Hero branding. The new Hero “Maverick” is getting ready to make its debut on the 23 January 2024. However, a test mule of the Hero Mavrick 440 is doing rounds in Rajasthan. The motorcycle is being benchmarked alongside the Harley-Davidson X 440 ahead of its global debut.
According to spy shots, the Hero Mavrick 440 is likely to offer a neo-retro look similar to the Harley-Davidson. However, changes to the headlight, mirrors and front suspension is observed. The Mavrick features a circular headlamp similar to the X 440 but with an H-shaped light signature. Hero is also likely to offer premium bar end mirrors on the Mavrick 440. However, instead of the upside down front suspension from the Harley-Davidson, the Mavrick is likely to use a right side up unit.
Spyshots also reveal that the seating position is slightly more relaxed than the X 440. This leads us to believe that the Mavrick is using different handlebars as well as footpeg position. The Mavrick 440 is also likely to come with a 3.5-inch TFT instruments cluster similar to the X 440. The brand is also likely to equip it with navigation support. Other information on the Mavrick is scarce at the moment as the camouflaged mule does not reveal much. But, the chassis and engine is likely to be the same as the Harley-Davidson X 440.
Powering the Harley-Davidson X 440 is a 440cc single-cylinder engine that produces 27 PS of power and 38 Nm of torque. The Mavrick 440 is also likely to use the same engine. Will Hero change the state of tune of the motor, only time will reveal that information.
