Helmet cameras are not as hazardous as they are considered to be, states a report by the Transport Research Laboratory and the BBC.
There are quite a few risks of attaching a camera to your helmet while riding as it can fall off or even distract you at times. Impact testing was carried out on multiple types of helmets keeping in mind testing protocols. Helmets were testing with cameras mounted on front, top & side & the energy transferred to the head was measured.
Results suggest that a camera could be mounted in any of the 3 positions without increased risk of an injury to the riders head.
At certain angles though, the energy transferred was a bit more.
With more and more people option to mount a camera on their helmet, such studies & results are surely an eye opener.
