Breaking News! Harley-Davidson shutting down plant in India, sales will stop eventually

Harley-Davidson has just announced that the brand, under the new Rewire business model will be changing its business model in the Indian market. The brand will also be evaluating options to continue to serve its customers and the operating model. Harley-Davidson has also announced that the brand plans to close its Bawal manufacturing facility and significantly reduce the size of its sales office in Gurgaon. The company will be communicating with its customers in India and keep them updated on the future. The present dealer network is also likely to function as is and continue to serve the customer until its contract term ends. 

The Rewire plan will also continue to run till the end of 2020 and will be followed by the Hardwire, a new strategic plan for 2021-2025, which aims at building the brand’s value. 

Recently, Harley-Davidson slashed the prices on the Harley-Davidson Street 750 in the Indian market. The entry-level motorcycle was earlier priced at INR 5.34 lakh ex-showroom and the brand is now offering an INR 65,000 discount on the cruiser. In the recent past, also offered the Harley-Davidson Street Rod with a discount of INR 56,500 and comes with new pricing of INR 599,000 ex-showroom, Delhi. The motorcycle was earlier priced at INR INR 655,500 ex-showroom, Delhi. Both the Street 750 and the Street Rod are based on the same 749cc liquid-cooled V-Twin Revolution series motor but the latter has been tweaked to churn out more Torques. The Harley-Davidson Street 750 produces 60 Nm of while the Street Rod makes 65 Nm. 

Harley-Davidson had also offered a special limited edition Street 750 in the Indian market that comes with an India-Inspired paint theme and will be sold in a limited-production run of 300 units. A few months ago the brand had slashed prices on the unsold stock of Street 750 Limited edition and was available at the price of INR 4.75 lakh ex-showroom, which is a discount of INR 72,000 on the ex-showroom price.
