Harley-Davidson LiveWire electric will have 225 km range in India

Harley-Davidson has announced the opening of preorders for the all-electric LiveWire and will go on sale in the North American and Western European markets first and according to the brand’s official website, the Harley-Davidson LiveWire will be priced at USD 27,799 and the bike has been listed on the company’s official Indian website which leads us to believe that the bike will be launched in India, likely to be around 2020.

The US-spec Harley-Davidson LiveWire features a Harley-Davidson Revelation Powertrain which features a permanent-magnet electric motor which is rated at 98 HP (73 kW) of power and producing 109.8 Nm (81 ft. lbs.) of torque sending power to the rear wheel via a belt drive and the LiveWire can sprint from 0-100 kmph in 3 seconds. It is also likely to feature a 15.5 kWh battery which can deliver a range of 235 km in the city or 152 km in stop and go traffic.

According to the Indian website the range differs and it shows around 225 km on a single charge in the city or 142 km in stop-and-go traffic. The battery on the Indian-spec model is expected to be slightly smaller in capacity at 13.5 kWh. The Harley-Davidson LiveWire can be charged in the following ways – Level 1 (standard household outlet): 21 km range per hour of charging, DC Fast Charge: 309 km range per hour charged.

The electric motorcycle features a 10.9 cm, TFT colour touchscreen instruments console with connectivity features via the Harley-Davidson app and displays the state of charge, speed, range along with music, turn-by-turn navigation, alert notification, direction to the nearest charging station, geo-fencing etc.

The electronics package includes an Electronic Chassis Control system which has ABS sensors and Six-Axis Inertial Measurement Unit and combines electronic controls and hydraulics where required. The bike also has traction control and Drag-Torque Slip Control System which can modulate the torque available on the rear wheel. The LiveWire is also expected to come with riding modes – Road, Rain, Range, Sport and three custom modes.

Other hardware that the LiveWire will get is upside-down fully adjustable Showa front fork and a fully adjustable Showa rear monoshock suspension, twin-disc hydraulic brakes with radial-mounted Brembo callipers, lightweight cast aluminium perimeter frame, multispoke alloy wheels.
