Chinese state-owned automotive manufacturer FAW Group’s subsidiary brand, Haima showcased the 8s SUV at the Auto Expo 2020. The Haima 8s SUV and the 7x MPV were displayed to receive feedback from the consumers before the brand plans to make an entry.
The Haima 8s SUV on the exterior features a large chrome-accented grille, sleek LED daytime running lights with integrated turn indicators, quad-LED headlamps integrated into the bumper, a large air dam and 3D inserts around the headlights. Coming to the profile, the Haima 8s features 19-inch machine-finished alloy wheels, disc brakes on all four wheels, black cladding on the wheel arches, 3D cladding on the lower part of the door, a floating roof design which slopes back into the tail giving it a slightly coupe-like effect, silver roof rails and chrome treatment on the window sills. The rear of the Haima 8s features a piano black appliqué surrounding the LED taillights, black cladded bumper, faux chrome exhaust tips, electric-powered tailgate and an integrated spoiler.
The interiors of the 8s SUV feature a dark themed cabin, contoured and patterned seats, a multi-layered dashboard with body colour accented air-conditioning vents, a fully digital instruments console, a large free-standing touch screen infotainment system, chrome and piano black finish on the central tunnel with a sporty gear select lever and push-button controls around it for the infotainment, driving modes, electric parking brake etc. The car also gets a multifunctional flat-bottomed steering wheel with track-ball type controls and a large panoramic sunroof.
Powering the Haima 8s is a 1.6-litre turbocharged direct-injection petrol engine that produces 190 hp of power and 293 Nm of torque mated to a 6-speed automatic gearbox.
The Haima 8s is expected to be priced competitively when it is launched in the Indian market and will compete in the highly contested mid-size SUV segment.
