Greaves Electric mobility has announced a price revision for its popular brand of electric scooters. The Ampere Electric range of scooters have received a price hike of up to INR 39,000. This hike comes into force from 1 June, 2023.
The price revision is due to the change in the FAME II subsidy. The government of India has revised the subsidy offered to electric vehicles with effect from 1st June 2023.
Due to this, the Ampere Zeal EX now costs INR 20,900 more. The ex-showroom price hence becomes INR 95,500. Similarly, the Magnus EX now retails at INR 1.05 lakh, which is INR 21,000 more than before while the Ampere Primus’ quantum of hike stands at INR 39,100. The Ampere Primus now costs INR 1.49 lakh, ex-showroom.
Due to this price revision, Ampere’s range of bikes are now pretty much inline with competitors like Ola, Bajaj and Ather offerings.
According to the sales numbers for the month of May, Ampere Electric sold 9,632 units. This means, they are the 5th largest player in the Indian market. Further, the numbers had a 12 percent MoM growth as well. That said, we must watch out for the current month numbers as the upward price revision could affect the sales numbers.
Ampere has been taking advantage of the increasing demand of electric mobility vehicles in the two-wheeler segment. With rising fuel costs as well as high maintenance, electric vehicles offer a lower cost of running and ownership. Further, Ampere is also known to keep its portfolio updated regularly despite the cutthroat EV competition.
Recently, the company launched the Primus RCB edition in collaboration with the Royal Challengers Bangalore team for the 2023 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
