One of India’s emerging startup EV brands, Gravton, has accomplished its goal of covering the distance between Kanyakumari to Khardung La. Gravton Motors used its all-new flagship e-bike, the “Quanta”, to cover the 4011 Km journey in the shortest time possible. By taking no charging stops throughout the journey, Gravton Motors has officially entered the Asia Book of Records. This achievement solidified the fact that the Quanta e-bike completed the K2K feat by beating a few petrol-powered vehicles.
The expedition began on September 13th, 2021, from Kanyakumari and concluded on September 20th, 2021, at Khardung La. Within a period of 7 days, the Quanta e-bike covered the 4011 Km journey in 164 hours and 30 minutes. The first leg of the journey involved the Gravton team driving the Quanta with no breaks from Kanyakumari to Manali.
After traversing 3400 Km and stopping overnight at Manali, the Quanta continued through rough terrains with no drop in performance. Gravton stated that it designed the thermal management systems on the e-bike to allow for optimal performance during low temperatures. Thanking the Asia Book of Records team for recognising their monumental efforts, the company also promised to deliver more EVs.
Gravton recently announced its plans of setting up a brand new manufacturing facility in Hyderabad by the end of 2022. Currently, the company is designing and developing parts at a rate with which it’s one of the highest manufacturing EV brands. Gravton will soon offer its all-new K2K promo offer for customers, which will be applicable until the end of Feb 2022. Gravton launched its Quanta e-bike across India on 28th June 2021 at a price of INR 99,000 (ex-showroom).
The company has equipped the e-bike with its in-house designed and manufactured 3kW BLDC electric motor with reduced mechanical loss. This allows the Quanta to put out 170 Nm of instant torque and achieve a top speed of 70 kmph. Powering this motor is a 3 kWh lithium-ion, a detachable battery pack that offers 150 Km of range per charge. Meanwhile, customers can extend this range figure to 320 Km by equipping the Quanta with dual detachable battery packs.
