Gogoro has partnered with Zomato and Kotak Prime to offer electric two-wheelers as delivery vehicles. Kotak will help finance the bikes for the last-mile delivery partners.
Zomato is one of the leading food ordering apps in India. The company has over three lakh delivery partners. Further, Zomato has also committed towards The Climate Group’s EV100 initiative to transition to 100% EV-based deliveries by 2030. Hence to this end, the company will work with Gogoro for its Smartscooter and Swap & Go battery swapping network.
Thanks to electric vehicles, the delivery partners will be able to experience safe, reliable, and always available energy thanks to quick battery swap. The company will also offer loans with affordable schemes to make the transition to EVs even more attractive.
The companies will offer last-mile delivery partners with affordable loan terms and battery swapping services that enable them to adopt sustainable transportation. Gogoro battery swapping and Smartscooters offer safe, reliable, and always available energy, while tethered electric charging still requires dedicated parking and charge time that reduces delivery partner availability and income.
The scooter has a simple, minimalistic design. The key focus is on comfort and convenience. It also gets a flat floorboard that is perfect for carrying a wide variety of stuff. The scooter also benefits from a slew of advanced tech features. This includes bio-authentication via fingerprint, face ID and Siri voice command. Other key highlights include an auto weather model, one-click reverse, carbon belt system for silent operations and tyre pressure monitoring system. Gogoro 2 gets a sporty digital instrument screen with a range of connectivity features.
In terms of range, the Gogoro 2 gets a certified range of 85 km. In comparison, Gogoro 2 Plus will come with a claimed range of 94 km. Electrical energy consumption stands at 41 Wh/km in the case of Gogoro 2 meanwhile it is 44 Wh/km for the Plus variant.
It is likely that the company could cut down on features to reduce cost and customise the scooter to be applicable for delivery applications.
