Gogoro 2 Plus electric scooter will offer 94 km range

Taiwan’s largest provider of EV battery-swapping infrastructure, Gogoro has some big plans for the Indian market. It has already signed agreements with multiple entities in India including Hero MotoCorp. As per the latest update, we understand Gogoro will very soon bring in its Gogoro 2 and Gogoro 2 Plus electric scooters in India. Both scooters have been already been homologated in India. And thus it has got its approval and certification provided by the Central Institute of Road Transport (CIRT). In fact, Gogoro has also listed the SuperSport model on its India website.

What Are These Gogoro Scooters Like?

Gogoro 2 and Gogoro 2 Plus measures 1,890 mm in length, 670 mm in width and 1,110 mm in height. Meanwhile, the wheelbase measures 1,295 mm. Both models have a total gross vehicle weight of 273 kg.

As per the type approval certificate, we understand that the units have been manufactured in Taiwan. Gogoro 2 will come with a certified range of 85 km. In comparison, Gogoro 2 Plus will come with a claimed range of 94 km. Electrical energy consumption stands at 41 Wh/km in the case of Gogoro 2 meanwhile it is 44 Wh/km for the Plus variant.

Max 30-minute power is rated at 7.2 kW and 6.4 kW, for Gogoro 2 and Gogoro 2 Plus, respectively. The Max speed of both variants reads as 87 kmph.

As of now, some of these specs are quite different from what’s stated on the company’s India website. Of which the key parameter is 170 km of range for both scooters. So we assume Gogoro could introduce some changes in line with local riding needs.

Design Highlights

As for the design, the scooter has a simple, minimalistic design. The focus is on comfort and convenience. It also gets a flat floorboard that is perfect for carrying a wide variety of stuff. The scooter also benefits from a slew of advanced tech features. This includes bio-authentication via fingerprint, face ID and Siri voice command. Other key highlights include an auto weather model, one-click reverse, carbon belt system for silent operations and tyre pressure monitoring system. Gogoro 2 gets a sporty digital instrument screen with a range of connectivity features.

Gogoro’s Swapping Network Infrastructure Plans In India

The most talked about aspect is Gogoro’s swapping network. Just like in Taiwan and several other global markets, Gogoro has big plans of developing a large network of battery-swapping stations in India. But we understand, it will take time, considering the complexities involved. The company is currently working with multiple entities to develop its battery-swapping infrastructure.
