Hyundai Motor Group’s luxury brand Genesis has unveiled its first pure electric car, the Genesis GV60. The Genesis GV60 underpins the Hyundai Motor Group’s E-GMP (Electric-Global Modular Platform) EV platform. Genesis reveals that the GV in the moniker stands for Genesis Versatility, and the number 60 stands for the lowest number in the line-up. The lower the number, the more athletic the model. Based on this, the GV60 will be the most athletic model in the Genesis line-up yet.
The Genesis GV60 comes with an aggressive and sporty design language. The exterior design of the car highlights the dynamic and smooth flowing lines, also showcasing the high-performance dynamics of the vehicle. The car features a sleek silhouette and a low squatting stance. On the front, the Genesis GV60 features a hallmark Genesis crest grille but features sporty intakes.
The headlamp cluster also resembles other Genesis vehicles and comes with the futuristic Two-Line Quad Lamp design. The front fascia is also optimised for the aerodynamic efficiency of the body as well as the thermodynamic efficiency of the battery pack. Genesis also employs an 80% thinner grille emblem with a Guilloché pattern combining high-tech innovation and a luxurious driving experience.
The Genesis GV60 also features ‘Clamshell Hood’, a single panel combining the bonnet and fenders. The car features a coupe-like look from the side and comes with a sloping roofline that ends into the rear deck, completing the progressive character. Reverberating with the front, the rear also comes with a Two Line rear combination lamp. The haunch features a voluminous three-dimensional body and a fixed rear wing spoiler.
On the inside, the GV60 features the ‘Beauty of White Space,’ design philosophy. This helps create a spacious and comfortable cabin along with floating architecture and bespoke detailing. But the pièce de résistance is the Crystal Sphere, a sphere-shaped Shift By Wire (SBW). Adding aesthetics to the cabin is again the Crystal Sphere. When the vehicle is turned off, the sphere becomes the vehicle’s mood light. The car also features a floating console, a wide-screen integrated indicator (cclC, connected car Integrated Cockpit) etc.
Genesis has not yet revealed the powertrain specifications of the GV60. Expect the brand to announce the full details in the coming weeks.
