The Genesis GV80 has been spotted in India. This luxury SUV was seen in Chennai. This has led to speculation that Hyundai could consider bringing this car in the Indian market. Genesis is the luxury brand of the Korean car maker Hyundai.
With Hyundai and Kia doing good volumes, it is only natural for Hyundai to think about expanding its presence in the Indian market. The luxury segment is a good way to increase the brand value.
The Genesis GV80 is based on the Hyundai Palisade and the Kia Telluride. The Genesis brand is the luxury equivalent of Hyundai. It is similar in positioning of Lexus with respect to Toyota. The GV80 is the flagship SUV of the brand.
The GV80 is the SUV version that competes with the Mercedes-Benz GLE and BMW X5. Powering the Genesis GV80 is a 2.5-litre turbo-petrol engine that makes 300 Hp of power. The brand also offers a 3.5-litre V6 that makes 375 Hp of power. The SUV measures 4,945 mm in length, 1,976 mm in width, 1,714 mm in height and has a 2,954 mm wheelbase. The car comes with 5 or 7 seat options depending on the model.
Coming to features, the SUV gets a large chrome grille, LED headlamps and LED tail lights. Genesis has equipped the GV80 SUV with large 22-inch alloy wheels.
On the inside, the SUV gets a minimal-design dashboard. It houses horizontal air-conditioning vents and a 14.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The car has a twin-spoke steering wheel along with a digital instrument cluster for the driver.
In India, the GV80 was first showcased at the new Hyundai headquarters in Gurugram.
In overseas markets, the GV80 comes with three engine options – a 2.5 and 3.5-litre petrol engine along with a 3.0-litre diesel engine. All engines are paired with an 8-speed automatic gearbox.
