South Korean luxury automotive manufacturer Genesis has unveiled its latest 2022 G90 luxury sedan for sale in the international markets. Genesis has not provided details of the G90’s interior or engine specifications but will offer a standard or long-wheelbase version. Once on sale, the G90 will rival German sedans such as the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, Audi A8, and the BMW 7 Series.
The flagship of the Genesis range now features a completely redesigned exterior which represents the brand’s luxury credentials. Resembling its younger sibling, the G80, the new G90 features the brand’s ‘Athletic Elegance’ design philosophy with an emphasis on luxury. At the front, the new G90 features the signature dual-line LED headlights that resemble Genesis’s other models.
The new G90 now sports a Crest Grille with a Layered Architecture finish and two G-matrix patterns for a 3D effect. However, the new G90 now features a clamshell bonnet that eliminates panel gaps to create a sleek impression. The G90 also sports integrated LED DRLs within the thin, Two-Line design lamps, which use Micro Lens Array (MLA) technology.
When viewed from the side, the G90 features a Parabolic Line design along with a Daylight Opening (DLO). To enhance its athletic stance, Genesis has placed the license plate, sensors, and reverse lights towards the bottom of the G90. The long-wheelbase version of the G90 offers 190mm of additional space between the axles with exclusive 20-inch wheels.
At the rear, the G90 features brand new twin taillights, which bring it in line with the latest Genesis models. Additionally, the front and second-row windows of the G90 feature DLO’s, complemented by the thick C-pillars. The rear of the new G90 also features an elongated trunk with the ‘Genesis’ lettering placed between the taillights.
The current-generation Genesis models such as the G80 and the GV80 utilize 3 engines that may feature on the G90. These include the 2.2-litre, four-cylinder, petrol producing 210 PS and a 2.5-litre, twin-turbo, four-cylinder, diesel producing 304 PS. However, the new G90 may also feature the engine from the 2018 US-spec facelifted Genesis G90. The engine in question is a V6 turbo-petrol producing 380 PS of power.
