Fully faired 155cc Suzuki Gixxer spotted testing

Ever since the launch of the naked version of the Suzuki Gixxer, there were rumours almost instantly doing the rounds that the Japanese manufacturer would start working on a fully-faired version of the motorcycle. And finally, a test mule has been spotted which suggests that the fully-faired Gixxer could launch in early 2015.

Powering the faired sibling will be the same 155cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled, petrol motor producing 14 BHP of power and 14 Nm of torque mated to a 5-speed gearbox. Expect the bike to be heavier by a couple of kilos and hence, a marginally lower fuel efficiency figure.

The fully-faired design envelopes the same headlamp which is available on the naked version. The fairing runs down all the way to cover the engine completely. The wind deflector on top is also covered in camouflage and has a bubble like effect towards the top. Rear view mirrors are mounted on the fairing and the stalks run long enough. The fairing also reveals a small slit below the fuel tank to allow heat dissipation from the engine. Seats and tail lamps are also expected to be carried forward without any change. Even the exhaust remains identical with the cheesy chrome garnish.

With the launch of the faired Gixxer variant, Suzuki will be all set to lock horns with Yamaha in the premium 150cc segment.

Expect pricing to be higher by Rs. 8,000 – 10,000.
