Driving in the monsoon can sometimes be challenging and we at Shifting-Gears.com suggest the following stratagems to be taken during the season:-

  • We urge drivers to be cautious while driving during heavy rains and in waterlogged areas. Drivers are also urged not to try and restart an engine stalled due to water, to further avoid damages or cause an electrical short circuit in the sensitive electronic components.
  • Before moving out check on windshield wipers, water spray tanks and any tree debris logged between the wiper blade and the windshield glass surface. if possible use a water repellant solution on the ORVMs available locally.
  • if you do have to drive through water, do it at a slow speed and with utmost care. A lot of accidents in the monsoon happen when motorist drive through water at a high rate of speed which causes total loss of control due to aquaplaning.
  • The most crucial component is the tyre which keeps the vehicle connected to the road surface. Check tyres and keep them in good condition and at correct inflation pressure.
