Ford will not kill V8 engines in this modern EV era

The world is on a trend shift from large displacement brawny engines to smaller efficient turbo-petrol motors with lesser cylinders and electric driven future. While most manufacturers have already shifted to smaller electrified hybrid powertrains, the pure muscle engines such as Ford V8s could be on the verge of extinction, and its seems like its only a matter of time before we could see the end of it.

But a media report suggests that the American muscle car brand has “Reassured” that its V8 motor will stay and continue to be made for the near anticipated future. The brand has not given a specific timeline until which it is likely to produce the V8 mill, and it will be difficult to predict until when the engine line-up will continue to be in production.

The source also confirms that the brand reckons and acknowledges that a transition from the internal combustion engine to battery electric vehicle is befalling right now, but when it will happen depends on many factors such as battery costs, fuel costs and regulations. Ford is also progressing on the Electric Vehicle front and the brand is preparing its production facilities for the eventual full-scale manufacturing of Ford EVs to successfully transition into the BEV future.

While many of the brand’s competitors have dropped large displacement V8 engines, Ford currently produces – the 5.0L Coyote V8, 6.2L Boss V8, 7.3L Godzilla V8, 5.2L Voodoo V8, supercharged 5.2L Predator V8, and 6.7L Power Stroke Scorpion V8. In the Indian market, the Ford Mustang is powered by a 5.0-litre V-8-cylinder Ti-VCT engine with new revised high-flow port cylinder heads that produces 401 ps of power and 515 Nm of torque matched to a 6-speed Selectshift automatic transmission.

The current-generation Mustang that has been in service from sold over 633,000 in total, including 102,090 units sold in 2019. The brand sells the Mustang in 146 countries in both the left-hand drive and right-hand drive versions.
