The Ford Ranger has been spotted in India. The sighting of the vehicle keeps adding fuel to the speculations of Ford coming back to India.
Ford Ranger Sighting
The Ford Ranger was first seen in Chennai, and later, an uncamouflaged unit of the Ranger was seen in Mohali, Punjab. The vehicle was spotted alongside the new-gen Endeavour, which is sold as the Ford Everest SUV abroad. Speculations are that the Endeavour or Everest and the Ranger will be launched together.
Design and Features
The current generation of the Ford Ranger made its global debut in November 2021. In terms of design, the new Ford Ranger gets an updated front grille, flanked on either side by C-shaped LED headlamps with integrated LED DRLs11. The rear features LED taillights and a tailgate that has the ‘Ranger’ name embossed on it.
Inside, it offers a vertically oriented infotainment panel, a fully digital instrument cluster, vertical AC vents, and the rugged layout from Everest. It also comes loaded with technology such as ventilated front seats, ambient lighting, wireless charging, automatic HVAC, and powered driver seat, among others.
Powertrain Options
The Ranger shares its powertrain with the Everest, including 2.0-liter and 3.0-liter turbo-diesel engines. The entry-level 2.0-liter diesel mill produces 170 hp, while the bi-turbo unit delivers 206 hp. The top-of-the-line 3.0-liter V6 turbo-diesel unit offers 246 hp and 600 Nm of torque, all paired with a 10-speed automatic gearbox.
The Ranger is a derivative of the Ford Everest just like the Toyota Hilux is a derivative of the Fortuner. The pick-up truck culture is gradually picking up in India, and Ford bringing another pick-up as an option to Indian buyers would be a solid move. It will, however be sold as a CBU and the prices will be on the higher spectrum as compared to the Hilux.
