The news of Ford exiting India had shocked everyone in the automotive industry. The company has provided a host of successful products to the country, of which the Endeavour remains one of the fan favourites. But, after the news of Ford exit, Endevaour also went down into the history books. But, Ford India had mentioned that they would continue to bring in premium models to India via the CBU route. And now, as per the latest rumour, Ford might bring in the Endeavour via this route. There’s no official statement as of yet.
Endeavour/Everest Return Confirmed?
As per plans, Ford India will bring in a total of 8 CBUs starting from early 2022. This also includes the much-awaited Mustang Mach-E. Further, as mentioned, the Endeavour could also make its way. Currently, in the international market, the SUV gets a 2.0-litre bi-turbo diesel engine. The performance output figure stands at 211 HP and 500 Nm that gets a 10-speed automatic transmission. Sources suggest the Ford India will price the SUV at around INR 65 lakhs (ex-showroom). Chances are high, the Ford could also choose to replace the Endeavour nameplate with Everest.
What’s Next For Ford India?
The carmaker now aims to represent itself as a premium carmaker in the country. And hence it will limit its showrooms only to a limited number of cities. These showrooms will have state of the art infrastructure that will aim to create a sense of premiumness. We hope Ford succeeds with its new ‘Endeavour’ in the Indian market.
Endeavour has been one of the most iconic SUVs in the Indian market and a very close competitor to the Toyota Fortuner. This rivalry brought the best of both the SUVs, and the customers were a clear winner. Now that the rivalry is gone, we expect Ford to work out some way to bring back the Endeavour and hence keep up the competition.
