Ford India has launched the BS6 compliant 2020 Ford Endeavour at an introductory price of INR 29.55 lakh ex-showroom. The 2020 Endeavour comes with a new 2.0-litre EcoBlue engine and a 10-speed SelectShift transmission which Ford claims to be the first in the world. The introductory prices of 2020 Endeavour will be valid on bookings made until April 30, 2020, and the prices will be increased by up to INR 70,000 from May 1, 2020.
The 2020 Ford Endeavour features LED headlamps with automatic function, dual-zone automatic climate control, 8-way power-adjustable driver & front passenger seat, 8-inch touchscreen integrated with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a large panoramic sunroof that covers 50% of the roof, automatic wipers, hands-free power lift tail gate and a first-in-class Active Noise Cancellation technology to keep the cabin quieter.
Powering the Ford Endeavour is the BS6 emission compliant new 2.0-litre EcoBlue turbocharged diesel engine that produces 170 ps of power and 420 Nm of torque. The new EcoBlue engine has been built grounds up and multiple design innovations have been used to keep the friction low on the moving parts, hence improving fuel efficiency as well as lowering the engine noise.
The new engine has reduced rubbing forces on the cylinder walls achieved by a 10 mm offset crank design that minimizes piston side-load. The engine also features a belt-in-oil design for the camshaft and oil pump drive belts, an optimized valve-train and an all-new single-piece camshaft module, new mirror-image porting design for the integrated inlet manifold that swirls the air clockwise in cylinders 1 & 2 and counterclockwise in cylinders 3 & 4. The crankshaft and turbocharger bearings have also been optimized for low friction.
The 2.0-litre EcoBlue engine has been mated to a world’s first 10-speed automatic SelectShift transmission that reduces the flat spots between available power and acceleration enhancing the response during acceleration and deceleration. The SelectShift transmission can skip gears during upshifts to help run the vehicle in the highest gearing possible improving fuel efficiency. Ford claims that the new engine and transmission have together achieved a 14% improvement in fuel efficiency as compared to the 2.2-litre TDCi engine. The powertrain also features a four-wheel-drive system and an active transfer case with Torque on demand. Also is the first-in-segment Terrain Management System with – Normal, Snow/Mud/Grass, Sand and Rock.
In terms of safety, the Ford Endeavour comes with up to 7 airbags including a driver knee airbag, hill launch assist and hill descent control, rear and front parking sensors, rear parking camera and other automotive industry standard safety features.
The 2020 Ford Endeavour will be available in three colours – Diffused Silver, Sunset Red, and Diamond White.
