Ford Endeavour (Everest) ‘BaseCamp’ trademarked in India

Following on the Ford Endeavour Sport edition, Ford Motor Company has filed a new trademark for the Ford Endeavour, called the BaseCamp in India. The Base Camp moniker already exists in the international market where the large SUV is marketed as the Ford Everest. The Base Camp edition there is the accessories version of the standard SUV, to be specific in the Australian and New Zealand market. 

In the abovementioned markets, the Everest (Endeavour) BaseCamp features off-road-oriented accessories such as a bonnet protector cum bug deflector, a nudge bar with integrated auxiliary light bar, a large roof rack with carrying bars, Pioneer roof platform and an in-built retractable awning from Sunseeker, a snorkel to improve the SUVs water wading capability and a tow bar to hitch a small camper or a flatbed. 

The new BaseCamp model is also expected to offer the same accessory kit when it comes to India but no mechanical changes are expected and the Endeavour even the BaseCamp avatar is likely to be powered by the same BS6-compliant 2.0-litre EcoBlue turbocharged diesel unit that churns out 170 PS of power and 420 Nm of torque matched to an industry-first 10-speed automatic SelectShift transmission. The Endeavour also comes with a first-in-segment Terrain Management System (TMS) with four preset modes – Normal, Snow/Mud/Grass, Sand and Rock allowing traverse over tough terrain and off-road with ease. 

In the Australian and New Zealand market, the Ford Everest (Endeavour) is offered in 8 exterior paint options – Arctic White, Shadow Black, Aluminium Metallic (Silver), Reflex Blue, Diffused Silver (Beige), Meteor Grey, Sunset (Light Brown) and True Red (Bright Red). The brand has also launched the Endeavour ‘Sport’ edition in the Indian market priced at INR 35.10 lakh ex-showroom which is offered in three exterior paint options – Absolute Black, Diffused Silver and Diamond White. The Ford Endeavour Sport is positioned as the top-of-the-line spec trim in the Endeavour line up and comes with a dozen new exterior features and will be available only with an all-wheel-drive or 4X4 driveline.

As of now, there is no timeline available on when the BaseCamp edition will be launch in the Indian market.
