In the recent past, Ford updated the EcoSport Compact SUV with a BS6 compliant engine in the Indian market, the company’s sales driver has not seen any major updates recently but the Dearborn-based brand has been rolling out minor updates to the popular SUV in India. In the international market, Ford is gearing up to introduce yet another trim on the Ford EcoSport suffixed with the moniker Active and as the name suggests the new update will come with new rugged features to enable the compact SUV traverse on mild off-road tracks.
The Ford EcoSport Active is expected to feature black plastic cladding on the lower part of the front and rear bumper, the side sills and wheel arches. Apart from this the claddings also continue on to the faux skid plates giving the car a more rugged appearance. On the inside, the updates are expected to continue on the seat upholstery which appears to come with the Active branding on the seat backs but the majority of the equipment and convenience features in the international market, are likely to remain unchanged.
In the Indian market, Ford recently updated the SUV to conform to the latest BS6 emission standards and also launched a new Titanium Automatic variant. The Ford EcoSport in India is powered by a BS6 compliant 1.5-litre three-cylinder Ti-VCT petrol engine that delivers 122 PS of power and 149 Nm of torque. Optionally the compact SUV is also available with a 1.5-litre four-cylinder diesel engine that makes 100 PS of power and 215 Nm of torque. Both engines come matched to a 5-speed manual transmission but the petrol version is also supplied with a 6-speed Automatic gearbox with additional features such as paddle shifters, cruise control and push-button start/stop.
Sources suggest that the new Ford EcoSport Active will be exclusively powered by a 1.0-litre EcoBoost turbo-petrol motor in the European market and is said to make its official entry on 6th November 2020, as of now, there are no reports of the EcoSport Active arriving in the Indian market.
