Ford India has announced that the Aspire compact-sedan will now be available in a CNG powered variant. This CNG variant obviously is coupled with the petrol engined Aspire. The car will now be available in two variants with the CNG option – Ambiente & Trend Plus.
Ford is assuming that this Aspire CNG model will be able to attract fleet operators, something which Hyundai & Maruti Suzuki have aced with the Xcent and the Dzire. Ford is claiming that the Aspire CNG has a first-in-segment suspension type fitting for the CNG cylinder in the boot, which is going to allow more room for luggage carrying.
Ford has also revealed that the maintenance cost for the Aspire CNG will be as low as INR 0.46 / km.
The CNG powered Ford Aspire will get a standard 2 year / 100,000 km warranty. The service interval for these cars will be 1 year / 10,000 km. The CNG kit is claimed to require service once in every two year or at 20,000 kms. The CNG kit will be integrated witht he cars stock ECU which will manage the gas flow for best performance and mileage. There is a front stabilizer bar which will manage the extra weight of the CNG cylinder, so the handling is not affected.
The CNG powered variants also come with dual front airbags.
