Force Gurkha spotted testing in 5-door format

In 2021, with a much delay, Force Motors launched the new-generation Gurkha in the Indian market. The lifestyle SUV got a complete revamp on the inside-out. However, the Force Gurkha is a three-door model and competes directly with the Mahindra Thar. Now, Force is also planning to soon launch the five-door model of the Gurkha, which will be longer, offer more space and will be more suited to buyers looking for a lifestyle SUV as well as a family car. Spyshots of the new five-door Gurkha have emerged on the internet, which reveal that the SUV could be in the final evaluation stages and is ready for series production.

2022 Force Gurkha 5-door – Spyshots

According to the spy shots, the new Force Gurkha five-door will come with a longer wheelbase. Speculations are that the wheelbase will have an increase of nearly 400mm over the standard three-door model. This converts to a larger boot and spacious interiors for the occupants. The brand may also offer jump seats in the third row but doing this would definitely attract negative marking in the safety rating department.

In terms of the looks, the five-door Gurkha will replicate the three-door model in every essence. The front fascia is likely to feature the same grille from the three-door and the rear, according to the spy shots, also remains the same. The brand will also offer a snorkel on the five-door model as well. This leads us to believe that the new Gurkha will also be as off-road capable as the three-door model. The brand is also likely to use the same running gear from the three-door Gurkha with tweaks to the suspension to handle the extra weight.

2022 Force Gurkha 5-door – Powertrain

Force Motors is likely to retain the same power unit from the three-door Gurkha. Powering the Gurkha three-door is a BS6 compliant FM 2.6-litre CRCD Mercedes-Benz derived diesel engine. The oil motor produces 91 Hp of power and 250 Nm of torque paired to a G28 5-speed manual synchromesh gearbox. The Gurkha features 4×4 technology with independent front and rear manual locking differentials.
