Fisker has confirmed a limited edition of the Ocean electric SUV for India. The American EV maker will bring in 100 units of the Ocean SUV in the top-end Extreme version. Dubbed as the Ocean Extreme Vigyan Edition, it is named after the company’s Indian head office in Hyderabad. According to the carmaker, the car is expected to complete homologation formalities by September 2023. Hence, deliveries are expected by Q4 2023.

One of the main visions of the Fisker is the sustainability aspect of the vehicles. Hence, they come with vegan interiors, recycled carpets and rubber and a solar panel on the roof.

As the car is based on the top-spec Extreme trim, it gets a dual-motor setup rated at 572 HP and 737 Nm. It is paired with a 113 kWh battery. The 0-100 km/h time is claimed to be under 4 seconds and the car boasts of an impressive 707 km range on the WLTP cycle. Amongst all the cars on sale in Europe, the Ocean Extreme has the highest range.

In terms of features, the SUV gets a 17.1-inch revolving touchscreen infotainment system, digital rear-view mirror, powered tailgate, 3D surround sound system, front and rear heated seats and 360-degree cameras. There are ADAS features as well as multiple drive modes – Earth, Fun and Hyper. That said, Fisker could also add some Indian specific updates to the car.

Price in India

While the car will be brought in as a CBU or a completely built unit, the duties would make it priced upwards of INR 1 crore. For instance, in Germany, the car sells for Euro 69,950, which translates to around INR 65 lakh. Hence, the Fisker Ocean would compete with the likes of the BMW iX, Jaguar i-Pace and the Audi e-tron.

Apart from the price, the limited number of cars would mean that customers would look at Fisker more of a novelty factor than a regular car.
