California-headquartered electric vehicle company Fisker is planning to introduce its electric SUV in the Indian market. According to a media report, Fisker Inc. is planning to partner with Foxconn, a Taiwanese company, and form its India-base in Hyderabad. Under the joint venture, Fisker and Foxconn will hire around 300 engineers primarily for software technology development.
Rumours suggest that Fisker will also launch the Fisker Ocean in the Indian market. Fisker Inc. was founded by car designer Henrik Fisker and offers a full-electric SUV called the Fisker Ocean in the international market. In Europe, Fisker offers the Ocean at the starting price tag of GBP 34,990 MSRP. The brand offers four variants of the Fisker Ocean – Fisker Ocean Sport, Fisker Ocean Ultra, Fisker Ocean Extreme and Fisker Ocean One. The top of the line Fisker Ocean One comes with a price tag of GBP 59,900.
The Fisker Ocean electric SUV comes with sleek LED headlights with wraparound DRLs, along with an aggressive front grille with a grated design and integrated LED turn indicators. The SUV also comes with trapezoidal wheel arches. The SUV also comes with a progressive roofline with a revolutionary full-length SolarSky roof. The brand claims that the Ocean is capable of producing up to 1,500 (2,414 km) clean, emissions-free miles per year, and under ideal conditions, the mileage per year may increase to beyond 2000 (3218 km) miles.
Powering the Fisker Ocean Electric SUV is a dual-motor AWD with a rear disconnect smart traction control. The electric SUV comes with a range of 390+ miles (627 km) on the top-spec model, while the base model comes with a range of 270+ miles (434 km) range on a single charge. The base model also comes with a single forward drive motor with Earth and Fun driving modes.
Reports suggest that Fisker is likely to produce the electric vehicle in the Indian market. The brand is likely to use a new facility which will initially aim to build 1 million units.
