Mahindra has delivered the first BS6 compliant Alturas G4 SUV to the Rashtrapati Bhavan. The Joint Secretary of the President’s office took the delivery on behalf of the Honorable President of India. The BS6 Mahindra Alturas G4 delivered to the President’s Office is finished in black and no reports of any other modification have been reported.
The Honourable President of India, Shri Ramnath Kovind, currently uses the Mercedes-Benz S600 Pullman Guard as the official vehicle and the Mahindra Alturas G4 is not likely to replace the bulletproof vehicle. While no further details on the Mahindra Alturas G4 were revealed regarding any changes to the SUV, exclusive to the President.
In terms of size, the Mahindra Alturas G4 measures 4,850mm in length, 1,960mm in width, 1,845mm in height with a wheelbase of 2,865mm. The SUV is powered by a BS6 emission-compliant 2.2-litre 4-cylinder diesel engine that produces 181 ps of power and 420 Nm of torque matched to a 7-speed automatic gearbox with two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive options.
The BS6 Mahindra Alturas G4 features projector HID headlamps with integrated dual function LED daytime running lights, LED fog lamps with cornering function, LED tail lamps, rear spoiler with LED lamp, LED door handle lamps for driver and passenger and LED illuminated registration plate holder.
The Alturas G4 comes with exterior highlights such as a chrome-accented grille, multi-layered bumper with integrated light bar-style fog lights, 18-inch dual-tone machine-finished alloy wheels, rock guards on the doors, chrome window beltline, chrome inserted body-coloured door handles, chrome embellishment on the rear bumper and front & rear skid plate.
On the inside, the Alturas G4 features soft-touch dashboard, leather finish soft-touch door trims, dual-tone quilted Nappa leather upholstery, dual-zone automatic climate control, a 20.32-cm touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, 8.89 cm Monochromatic (Alturas G4 2WD) /17.78 cm Colour (Alturas G4 4WD) digital LCD instrument cluster, steering mounted controls, electric sunroof and a lot more.
In terms of competition, the BS6 Mahindra Alturas G4 is priced starting INR 28.69 lakh ex-showroom, India and competes with the likes of the Toyota Fortuner and the Ford Endeavour in the Indian market.
