Ferrari has unveiled an all-new sportscar with a front-engine layout. This new sportscar with a coupe design is the Ferrari Roma, and it shares underpinnings with the convertible Portofino. For 2019, this is the 5th new model from the Italian exotic car manufacturer and the brand terms it as a new mid-front-engined 2+ coupé. The brand claims that this model represents the life in Rome during the 1950-60s.
Powering the Ferrari Roma is a 3855cc, 90-degree V8 petrol motor producing 620 CV of peak power and 760 Nm of peak torque. The brand claims that this sportscar can achieve a 0-100 kmph sprint in 3.4 seconds and nought to 200 kmph is clocked in just 9.3 seconds with a top speed in excess of 320 kmph. The Ferrari Roma has a dry weight of just 1472 kg and it measures 1301mm in height, 1974mm in width, 4656mm in length and 2670mm in wheelbase. The V8 engine is matched to a 8-speed dual clutch automatic gearbox which was first launched with the SF90 Stradale.
In terms of design, the Ferrari Roma might look a lot like an Aston Martin to a few. The Roma features full LED headlamps and tail lamps of course and there will be plenty of alloy wheel options on offer. The car has a typical curvy coupe design with flush door handles adding to the style quotient. No glass roof though, a standard metal finish on top. On the inside, the Ferrari Roma has a flat-bottom steering wheel, a digital colour display cockpit, a touchscreen infotainment in the centre with a plethora of buttons underneath for creature comfort. What’s unique is the screen on the dashboard in front of the passenger. One can notice top notch leather upholstery, contrast stitching, ambient lights, generous use of alcantara, etc. to give the Ferrari Roma customers a sense of luxury along with the sporty design.
