Ferrari has started testing its first SUV, Purosangue. In the recent past, Ferrari had made it clear that there was no place for an SUV in its lineup, but it seems the influx and the current demand for SUVs in the market has lured in even a giant performance carmaker like Ferrari to build SUVs. This is evident from the fact that every luxury carmaker like Lamborghini, Bentley, Porsche, Aston Martin, Rolls-Royce, and many others have added SUVs to their portfolio as SUVs can be a major source of income to their revenue.z
Nothing is confirmed about the engine specification which will be used in the Ferrari’s first SUV, but it is likely to get either a turbocharged V-8 or the V-12 as present in the other Ferrari’s iconic cars. Purosangue is an SUV and thus it will have an all-wheel system and will most likely have a hybrid system, as present in every modern car these days. The chief competitors in the luxury SUV segment which includes the likes of Bentley Bentayga, the Lamborghini Urus and the Aston Martin DBX.
There are absolutely no leaks or spy shots of the interiors of Ferrari Purosangue as of yet, but we assume it will have driver-centric interiors with ample space for four adults. The cargo will have enough space to accommodate enough luggage. The interiors would be finished in full leather and carbon-fibre material. There are rumours that the SUV will be loaded to brim in the safety equipment list. Automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist and adaptive cruise control will some of the key safety features
We can not comment on the fuel economy as of yet, but a quick glance at the rival, the Bentley Bentayga was rated with 12 mpg in the city and 17 mpg on the highway and thus 14 mpg combined. And we can expect the Purosangue to deliver a similar fuel economy in that range. The Ferrari SUV is likely to debut in 2021 and the main target audience will be the same as the ones buying the Bentley Bentayga, Range Rover and more.
