Ferrari has unveiled the Roma Spider. The car features a retractable soft top that will allow owners to experience top-down motoring in full glory.
The Ferrari Roma Spider is a beautiful blend of the retro styling design language and a powered folding soft top. This fabric roof folds away in just 13.5 seconds. Ferrari also claims that this roof will fold at speeds up to 60 km/h.
Due to the roof, the rear of the car has some design tweaks. One of these include the new rear window. Further, the rear now features a dual tone fascia. This two section split allows the roof to be stowed. The bottom portion also hosts the active carbon fibre spoiler.
On the inside, the Italian carmaker has offered buyers an option to select custom tailored fabrics and contrast stitching on the roof. With the roof down, the car automatically deploys a wind-deflector to keep the wind out of the passenger’s faces. This deflector is accommodated in the rear bench seat’s backrest.
The car comes with some nice creature comforts. These include the 18-way adjustable electric front seats. The seats are heated and come with an optional neck warmer as well.
The car comes with a dual cockpit layout and features an 8-4 inch infotainment screen as standard. Buyers can also configure the car with an optional passenger side display.
In terms of the powerplant, the Roma Spider comes with the same engine as the coupe. This is a 3.9-litre twin-turbo unit in a V8 configuration. It develops 612 HP @ 5,750-7,500 rpm and a peak torque of 760 Nm @ 3,000-5,750 rpm. The redline of this engine is set at 7,500 rpm and the gearbox duties are handled by an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic.
It is said that the Ferrari Roma Spider will reach 100 km/h from a standstill in just 3.4 seconds and 200 km/h in a blistering 9.7 seconds. The 0-100 time is the same as that of the hardtop but the 0-200 is slower by 0.4 seconds. Ferrari claims that the top speed is over 320 km/h.
