Ferrari reveals F80 1,200 HP hybrid hypercar as successor to LaFerrari

Ferrari has introduced its latest hypercar – the Ferrari F80. The Ferrari F80 is the successor to the LaFerrari and claims to be the most powerful Ferrari till date. The Ferrari F80 combine technologies from the brand’s Formula 1 machines as well as its LeMans cars bringing it to the road, through the new V6 Hybrid power unit.

Powertrain

Powering the Ferrari F80 is a 3.0-litre V6 engine that produces 900 Hp of power but combined with three electric motors the power unit is capable of generating 1200 Hp of power and revs upto a whopping 9200rpms. In addition to this, the brand also claims that the petrol engine is not heavier that the Ferrari 296’s engine. The power unit has two electric motors on the front axle and one at the rear. Also, the motors are made in-house and make 142 Hp of power each.

Energy Recovery and Performance

Furthermore, the car also comes with an MGU-K energy recovery system which works similar to Ferrari’s Formula 1 cars. The energy recovery system is capable of recuperating to upto 95 hp of energy while braking and use this energy for power boosts. The F80 also gets e-turbo, which is also an F1 derived technology and reduces turbo lag enhancing the throttle response of the car. Thanks to all the powerful technologies, the power unit claim to propel the car from 0-100 kmph in just 2.15 seconds and 0-200 kmph in 5.75 seconds.

Aerodynamics, Chassis and Suspension

The Ferrari F80 also come with an aggressive design with a huge S-Duct and an active rear wing. This helps generate a total of 1,000 kg of downforce. Also, various aerodynamic surfaces help the car slip through the air at high speeds, minimizing the drag co-efficient of the vehicle. The car also comes with active suspension and 3D printed parts for the double wishbone setup. Also, its Carbon, Titanium and Aluminium construction makes it light as well as 50% stiffer than the LaFerrari.
