F1-Powered Mercedes-AMG Project ONE teased on track

Powering a road car with a Formula 1 engine is every automobile engineers dream and Mercedes-AMG has made the vision come true with the Mercedes-AMG Project ONE, a performance hybrid two-seater supercar that produces over 1,000 Hp of power which has been brought to life in collaboration with Mercedes-AMG’s High-Performance Powertrain experts in Brixworth. The Mercedes-AMG Project ONE was undergoing dynamic testing at the Mercedes-AMG proving ground and technology centre at Immendingen. Now a new teaser video of the Mercedes-AMG Project ONE testing on a race track in red-silver camouflage livery has been released.

Powering the Project ONE is a 1.6-litre V-6-cylinder direct-injection petrol engine with an electric motor connected to the crankshaft, electrically boosted single turbocharger and two electric motors that power the front wheels. The electrical drive system is based directly on the high-performance plug-in hybrid drive system ‘EQ Power+’ that powers the brand’s Formula 1 engines.

The power unit is married to an Automated AMG SPEEDSHIFT 8-speed manual transmission and features a Variable AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel drivetrain with a hybrid-drive rear axle and an electrically driven front axle with torque vectoring technology. The outcome is 1000 Hp of power and more than 350 kmph of top speed.

The teaser video also reveals the complex active aerodynamic system that the Project ONE uses to keep the hypercar planted to the road. The Project ONE features a large active aero wing at the back and active louvres on the front fenders that give the ONE supreme lateral dynamics. The Mercedes-AMG Project ONE also features multiple aero ducts, a large rear diffuser, a roof scoop, a centre spine stabiliser and aerodynamically designed apertures that allow air to move around the car in the most efficient manner.

The Mercedes-AMG Project ONE will be produced in limited number and sold at USD 2.50 Million apiece, but if you are planning the buy the Project ONE your luck may have run out because the Project ONE has already been sold out.
