Tata Motors could be planning to launch the all-electric version of the Harrier in the Indian market. According to a media report, the electric Tata Harrier is likely to make its debut before the end of FY2025. Reports reveal that Tata is planning to introduce two all-electric vehicles, first of which is likely to be the Tata Curvv EV followed by the Harrier EV.
The Tata Harrier EV is likely to use the acti.ev architecture which currently underpins the Tata Punch EV. However, the Land Rover D8 based Omega platform is likely to continue but is likely to be heavily reengineered to accommodate the electric powertrain and battery. Reports also reveal that the Harrier EV is also likely to come with a flat floor on the inside. In addition to this the EV is also likely to support vehicle t0 vehicle and vehicle to load.
It is also being rumoured that the Tata Harrier EV is likely to come with a 60 kWh battery pack which could return a range of around 600 km on a single charge. However, there is still no confirmation on the powertrain details. But, the Harrier EV could come with a dual motor setup with all-wheel drive.
In terms of design, the Tata Harrier EV is likely to come with a closed-up grille and the front and rear bumpers are likely to be reprofiled. In addition to this, the all-electric SUV is also likely to come with aerodynamic alloy wheels. On the inside, the Harrier EV is also likely to come with EV-specific instruments and controls from Tata’s electric vehicle portfolio.
The Tata Harrier EV is likely to come with a starting price tag of INR 30 lakhs excluding taxes. The all-electric SUV is likely to compete with the Mahindra XUV.e8 which is likely to be based on the ICE (internal combustion engine) Mahindra XUV700.
