Audi might not be racing ahead in the sales race recently in the Indian luxury car market, but the brand is planning a new line of products to wow buyers. Audi has just confirmed that by 2020, they will have an electric SUV on sale in India.
Remember the Audi E-Tron concept? Expect something similar when Audi says an electric SUV is coming to our market. This new E-Tron is already open for bookings abroad, and could very well be the product coming to India as well. The E-Tron is going to spawn a range of vehicles apart from bring an SUV such as a sportback, Gran Turismo & a sport model.
The future of EVs is a little uncertain in India for now, but that is the only way forward. Electrics are the next big thing. A proper charging infrastructure though is bound to be ready by 2020, and we can say that for sure as even Maruti Suzuki is going to enter in this EV segment, and when the largest car manufacturer is all-set to do it, it will ensure a proper ecosystem.
Hopefully, by 2020, taxation on the EVs become more sensible, even if the product is an import. This will justify with the efforts needed to have it charged time and again.
