Harley-Davidson motorcycles now cost more in India

Written by Parichay Malvankar

Harley-Davidson India has hiked prices of its CKD range of motorcycles. Recently, the tax slabs were revised on CBU & CKD products being brought and sold in India, this has resulted in this price hike for the American cruiser motorcycle manufacturer. Surprisingly, prices have increased even for the Made-in-India Harley-Davidson Street 750.

The Street 750 was first priced at INR 5.17 lakh, and now asks for INR 5.25 lakh (ex-showroom). All CKD products including the Street Rod, Iron 883, 1200 Custom, Forty-Eight, all the way till Heritage Classic have seen a price hike. The increase in price is up to INR 70,000.

Previously, customs duty was 30% if CKD bikes had the engine and gearbox assembled, which is now down to 25%. For bikes with engine and gearbox being imported separately, the duty has increased from 10% to 15%. But, the good thing is, that the CBU imports for the brand Harley-Davidson have seen a price reduction.
