Jaguar Land Rover is road testing their Range Rover in the Southern Europe. The brand in the pas revealed that the Range Rover electric is being put through its paces in the arctic circle. However, spy shots from Southern Europe not only reveal that Land Rover plans to launch the all-electric Range Rover but also the Range Rover Sport with an all-electric powertrain.
Test mules of the Range Rover electric as well as the Range Rover Sport have been spotted sans camouflage. According to spied images both cars appear similar in design to their ICE counterparts. But the front grille, a blanked out piece help differentiates between the two. In addition to this, the keen-eyed will also notice that the SUVs have testing equipment attached to them and part of the rear bumper is also missing, which is common on test mules.
While Jaguar Land Rover already announced their plans to launch the Range Rover electric the test mule of the Sport variant is quite surprising. However, speculation is that both the SUV are likely to underpin the MLA architecture and use similar powertrains.
Talking about the powertrain, the Range Rover electric is likely to come with a 100 kWh battery pack and electric motors powerful enough to deliver power and torque which could be at par with the Range Rover V8. Also, the all-electric SUV are likely to come with all-wheel drive which the brand is famous for. Expect the Range Rover electric to deliver about 600 BHP of power and the Sport version is likely to offer around 500 Bhp. Also, the electric driving range is likely to be around 500 km on a single charge.
The test mules in the spy shots appear near-production and the brand is likely to introduce the two sometime between 2026 and 2027. Will the all-electric Range Rover and Sport come to the Indian market? While the brand has not yet announced its plans, but the ICE version is being sold here and the company is expected to launch its all electric products here upon launch. Jaguar Land Rover will produce the Range Rover and Sport at the Solihull production facility in the UK and if it plans to bring it to India, the EV will come via the expensive CBU import route.
