Electric Mini Cooper SE Convertible revealed with 201 km range

Mini has unveiled the all-electric Cooper SE convertible. This is the first all-electric convertible model from the British carmaker. This car is expected to serve as a temporary measure until the next-generation of Mini Cooper is unveiled. Hence the carmaker has restricted the model to just 999 units.

What’s new in the Electric Mini Cooper SE Covertible?

Available in two colours – Enigmatic Black and White Silver, the electric Mini looks very similar to its ICE counterpart. However, to make note of its uniqueness, Mini has given a 1/999 lettering on the door sills. The car rides on 17-inch cash alloy wheels finished in a two-tone design. These rims are made from secondary aluminium.

Further, the door handles along with front and rear light surrounds are finished in Resolute Bronze.

On the inside, the Mini Cooper SE Convertible gets heated seats, adjustable thigh support, a multi-function steering wheel and yellow accents all over.  Mini has also equipped this all-electric car with a head-up display, a connected infotainment system and adaptive cruise control.

The convertible roof of the car can be operated at speeds around 30 km/h and there is an intermittent position as well. Surprisingly, despite the roof, Mini claims a boot space of 160 litres, which is pretty similar to the standard car.

Powertrain of the Electric Mini Cooper SE Covertible

Mini has equipped a single motor at the front of this car. It is rated at 184 HP. Mini claims the car can do a sprint from a standstill to 100 km/h in 7.1 seconds while the maximum range on a full charge is 201 km according to the WLTP cycle.

Mini Cooper SE in India

Back in February of 2022, Mini had announced the launch of the new Mini Cooper SE, a fully electric car in the Indian market. However, Mini revealed that all available units were sold during the pre-launch booking in Q4 2021. Then, the company announced that a second batch of Mini Cooper SE electric would be arriving back into the country via the CBU (Completely Built-Up) route. Only 40 units were included in this.
